Uncertainty of Illinois Opening Leads to Show Cancellation

The International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS) is cancelled in September due to lack of clarity from Chicago's McCormick Place. Current phasing protocol in Illinois reflects that shows will not be able to open until there is a highly effective treatment or vaccine available for COVID-19. This comes with great disappointment for the organization's members as IMTS is one of the world's largest manufacturing technology events and this would have been the 34th edition of the show.

“The cancellation is especially poignant because the show was poised to offer an unmatched breadth and depth of resources to help industry rethink, reestablish and reengage with supply chains disrupted by COVID-19,” shared Peter R. Eelman, vice president & CXO at The Association For Manufacturing Technology, which owns and produces IMTS.

In place of a face-to-face meeting, IMTS will offer two digital programs, IMTS Network and IMTS Spark, to support the manufacturing community and exhibitors. IMTS already has produced resources for the manufacturing community addressing supply chain issues as a result of COVID-19. The IMTS.com/supplychain microsite — ReBuilding the Supply Chain — shows OEMs how to rethink operations and engage with suppliers and trading partners to solve for current limitations.
